The Spirit of Soldatenstube

It's a little slow this week; Projects are on stand-down, many people are taking their use-or-lose leave. I'm reviewing some literature for one of my projects. Sintering is both fun AND educational.

Some friends from church that work on the Arsenal and I decided to meet up for lunch at the Redstone Officers and Civilians Club (ROCC), to sample the German cuisine at the Spirit of Soldatenstube. I had: schnitzel, sauerkraut, fried potatoes, boiled cabbage, and two sausages that were described thusly, "this one's like a hotdog and this one's like a sausage." They also had a salad bar (which I missed) and soft-serve ice-cream (which I did not miss).

Overall impression: Vunderbar!

Meetings: None of Us are as Dumb as All of Us

I had two VERY different meeting today.

The first one was a visit from Robert Lightfoot, the Marshall Space Flight Center Director. He's been popping in at various building across the Center, as a way of taking our collective temperature. There were good questions from the group, and I learned a few things. Overall, a good hour-or-so.

The second meeting was a safety meeting. The focus this month was Health; specifically the many benefits of massage. Man, that was WEIRD. We wrapped it up with a tech brief on Lean Engineering. I'm proud to say that I remembered practically nothing from my time as a Lean Engineer.

Tomorrow: office Christmas lunch. Woohoo!

Bon App-etite

Well, it appears that someone actually requested an update. So, here it is.

2011 has been fairly eventful: I spoke at a conference, Jennifer got a new car, our volleyball team actually won a few games, we ran the Huntsville Half Marathon (improved our time by 17 minutes!), and I'm trying out the Blogger app.

Maybe more soon, maybe not.
